Despite all the on-going challenges of the pandemic we’ve had a spectacular start to 2022 at St Margaret’s. Another first and another triumph with “In Conversation” featuring Scotland’s third Makar (national poet), Jackie Kay chatting to our own Fiona Kennedy.
In an hour of fascinating conversation Jackie talked about her life and inspirations. And what a tale it was too as she took the spellbound audience from her early days in Fife to Glasgow and then on to Nigeria as she set out to trace her family roots.
Fiona demonstrated great skill and empathy as an interviewer as she drew out a hugely entertaining and at times very moving story. She even rose to the challenge of singing spontaneously when asked to do so by Jackie in what proved to be a very entertaining afternoon at St Margaret’s.
March is going to be a very busy month for folk music enthusiasts. First up will be Old Blind Dogs on the 4th followed by Hamish Napier on 19th and then Breabach on the 24th. Tickets for all these concerts are available on our website. Book early, they will go quickly!
